You can upload pretty much any written content to your AskAI, that can include blog content, help documentation, general webpages, product pages, news articles, the list is endless.

βœ… Supported Formats

A piece of content can be any of the following:

In all cases the data should be β€˜readable’ i.e. if you could highlight it and copy and paste it, AskAI can read it.

Generally speaking, the best formats to use would be txt, csv or docx, followed by URL and PDF, so where possible use the former formats.

AskAI will extract any text from the website URL you share, it cannot identify text within images, images/pictures themselves or diagrams.

❌ Unsupported Formats

You cannot currently upload the following types of content:

  • .doc files: Unfortunately, we are unable to read .doc files, these will have to be re-saved as .docx files if you want to upload them.

  • Images: We are unable to read and understand images currently, however, this is likely to change in the (near) future.

  • Username or password-protected content (sites and documents): Right now we are unable to use username or password-protected content in your AskAI, all content must be publicly accessible if it is a link. We are looking at ways to access this kind of content in the future if you need this in order to use AskAI effectively get in touch with us at team@myaskai.com.

  • Databases (including SQL databases): Unfortunately at this time you cannot connect My AskAI to live data sources or databases, including SQL databases. Any information uploaded to My AskAI must be β€˜static’ (but can be refreshed manually ad-hoc or updated automatically weekly or monthly depending on your plan). We are working on connecting to databases in the future to provide live data answers.

  • Audio, mp3, video or mp4 files: You cannot currently upload audio or video files, however you could upload a transcript for now. This is on our roadmap.

  • Scanned documents (unless they have been OCR'd): My AskAI does not have OCR (Optical Character Recognition) capabilities at present and so can't 'read' a document if it is not machine-readable. If you are unsure if your content could be used by AskAI a simple way to check is to try and highlight the content with your cursor and try and paste it somewhere else. If you are unable to, then AskAI probably won’t be able to either.

  • YouTube video links: While it will allow you to add links to YouTube videos, it will only take the visible text from the page, it won’t transcribe the content so may be of little use. You could however copy the transcript to a text file and upload that and it will work well.

  • Code: You could upload code, as long as it is in a supported format, however, unless it is small snippets of code, your results are unlikely to be optimal.

  • Emails: We do not have any direct integrations with email providers such as Gmail or Outlook and do not accept native email formats. You could upload emails, as long as your emails are in PDF format (or one of our accepted formats).

  • epub, Kindle or Apple Book files: We do not support any of these currently, but they could be converted to PDFs and uploaded.

  • 3rd party APIs: Currently, your AskAI is unable to retrieve data from an API. You can however use our content upload API to push content into your AskAI from your databases or sources to ensure it is always up to date.

With all of the unsupported formats, you may be able to export them into one of the supported formats above, e.g. PDF or txt file and upload to your AskAI as a workaround.

Limits

There are no word or page limits per piece of content (although our technology is unlikely to be able to ingest a webpage with 'infinite scroll').

If your files are larger than this let us know as we are able to ingest files exceeding >25Mb on paid plans (however this may impact your content limits with each 25Mb of content counting as 1 piece of content).

Updating or deleting content does not affect your content limits, for example, if you added 1 piece of content to your AskAI and then deleted it on a free plan you would still have 3 pieces remaining.

Content limits are calculated at an account level, therefore if you have 1,000 pieces of content on a Pro account then that is the amount of content you can spread over your AskAIs, you do not have 1,000 pieces per AskAI.
